From Duration to Timing: Unpacking Doug Hoehn's DIRT Concept

Snowboard instructor Doug Hoehn of Wyckoff, New Jersey, completed a workshop for snowboard instructors. Hoehn stressed the lesson with the easy to remember DIRT.  D is Duration: represents how long a particular movement occurs; I is for Intensity: represents the measurable amount of force or power of movement; R is for Rate: represents a measure, quantity, or frequency, typically one measured against some other quantity or measurement. It is the speed at which movement occurs; T is for Timing: represents the choice, judgment, or control of when  movement should take place.  Hoehn said 45 instructors participated.
